Mexico
White sand, turquoise water, and resorts that actually deliver.
Cancun gets a bad reputation from spring breakers, but the hotel zone has legitimately world-class all-inclusive resorts. The trick is choosing the right one. I have walked the floors of dozens of properties here. The ones at the northern tip of the hotel zone have calmer water and better beach. The southern end gets bigger waves but has newer properties.
All-inclusive is the way to go in Cancun, but read the fine print. Some properties charge extra for premium restaurants. The best value is a property with unlimited specialty dining included. Also: book the swim-out suite if the property has one. Worth every penny.
